We've even seen people rig up a push/pull shifter in the dash and have heard of people using electric solenoids, but for us the Advance shifter works like butter and is always our go-to option. As for the low-range planetary, it is shifted via a small lever shifter that can be mounted almost anywhere convenient on the floor or between the seats. The speed sensor on the 231 is 3 wires: 1) Orange- 5v (although I used 12v in my case) 2) Orange\White- speed signal to PCM 3) Dark blue (I think, it was dark)- signal ground (I just grounded to the chassis) On the wiring to the existing wheel sensors, the solid wire is 12v, the striped is the return signal. You've heard the term "front dig." It refers to when you put the rear output in Neutral and use only the front tires to pull your Jeep tightly around a trail obstacle. This ability to shift the front and rear outputs individually allows for some neat stuff off-road. If additional power is required and the stock transmission specifications and rear axle torque rating have been exceeded, then you might be required to use a stronger substitute. The Atlas will come with twin-stick shifters, wherein one shifter handles the front output and the other handles the rear output. Np231 Speed Sensor Ation Drivers Is Overpowering A common mistake of many off-road drivers is overpowering the existing drivetrain. They allow the most flexibility in mounting locations and isolate the shifters from drivetrain rattles as the Jeep is driven down the road. Advance Adapters offers several different shifter options for its Atlas and four-speed Atlas, but we most often go for the cable shifters.
